The Vila Gale Ampalius is an imposing modern hotel situated between Vilamoura's marina and casino facing Marina Beach and 400 metres from the town centre. The hotel offers 357 guestrooms and suites in a 12 story building. Each room provides satellite television and refrigerators, and safes are available for a daily surcharge. Bathrooms feature decorative Portuguese tiles and include shower/tub combinations.
Separated by a raised sundeck in the hotel's gardens are a 23 metre long freeform family pool surrounded by a sundeck and a 14 metre kidney shaped children's pool surrounded by a sunning lawn and palm trees. A health club features a curved indoor heated pool with windows looking into the outdoor pool. Adjacent is a spacious relaxation lounge with table games and long, curved upholstered banquettes. The Myrtilis restaurant provides buffet dinners or a la carte selections nightly with stage show three times weekly in outdoor plaza. There is also a spacious lounge bar serving drinks and snacks, and a rooftop pool bar with sun terrace. For recreation the hotel offers two lighted artificial grass tennis courts (surcharges) and a putting green. A complimentary shuttle service is also provided to all four golf courses located within the 5,000 acre Vilamoura resort development and to another course, Vila Sol. Two beaches extend along the Atlantic Ocean fronting Vilamoura and are separated by a marina, which is 300 metres from the hotel. The nearest airport is Faro; approximate driving time is 30 minutes and distance is 25 kilometres.
