The Hotel Dom Pedro Portobelo is a modern nine floor hotel overlooking the ocean, 300 metres from the sandy beach, seafront shops and yachting marina of Vilamoura. The hotel's 138 air conditioned, self catering studios have bright, practical interiors in warm tones with terracotta floors. All have living areas with fully equipped kitchenettes, safes, Internet ports (surcharge), and satellite television.

Guests can stroll in the lush tropical gardens, or cool off in the outdoor pool, while children can splash around in the mini pool, and amuse themselves in the arcade. Before an evening out guests can try a new look at the hotel salon, while practical amenities include currency exchange, a dry cleaning service, room service and garage parking. Water sports and boating can be enjoyed from the beach and marina, 300 metres from the hotel, and guests will find various golf courses and horse riding within three kilometres of the hotel. The hotel has its own Cancun Restaurant which serves international cuisine and specialises in Mexican fare; it is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. After a long day guests can enjoy sundowners and nightcaps, at the hotel's La Taverna Bar which overlooking swimming pool with an outdoor terrace. There is plenty of entertainment nearby: the seafront shops, cafes and bars, are just 300 metres from the hotel, and the local casino is a kilometre away. Those wishing to travel further afield can find Faro 25 kilometres away and travellers with cars could make a day trip to Lagos, 60 kilometres from Vilamoura. Faro International Airport is 25 kilometres and a journey time of about 30 minutes from the hotel.

Taxis can be caught from outside the terminal building; typical fares are 25 30 EUR to Vilamoura. Buses can also be caught outside the terminal building. AEROBUS provides a shuttle service between the airport and city centre daily (except Tuesday) in high season.
Driving directions: From the airport follow signs for EN125 Portim�o IP1, stay in the right hand lane and follow signs to Almancil. Shortly after, the road splits; stay in the left hand lane, heading for Portim�o. Continue to a set of major traffic lights and turn left to Quarteira. Turn right at the roundabout (BP garage) and continue straight over the mini roundabout, straight on at the traffic lights and turn left after the GALP petrol station. Stay in the right hand lane and follow this to the right, where you will see a sign for McDonalds. Pass McDonalds on your left and continue past the Vilamoura Casino on your right. Take the next left to the hotel.
