Location. This family run apartment building is set on the outskirts of the city centre and is situated 200 metres from tree lined roads that are home to a casino, restaurants and bars. Madeira Airport (FNC) is 18 kilometres from the hotel, with an approximate driving time of 30 minutes.

Hotel Features. The apartment complex features a rooftop freshwater outdoor swimming pool with a terrace and bar and views to the sea, while the games room has a billiards table and darts board. Guests can relax in the lobby, or make use of the other services including an ATM machine, a library, business centre, Internet connection and free parking.

The Aparthotel Imperatriz has a restaurant, the Trattoria Bernini where Italian and regional dishes are served, including specialities such as locally caught Scabbard Fish Fillet, Bernini style, and a selection of homemade pasta. The restaurant is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Hikers can follow the footpaths that run alongside the 14,000 miles of Levadas a network of channels that carry rainwater down the mountains to the villages. Other activities include paragliding, rock climbing, sailing, or scuba diving.

All guestrooms open on to balconies and include kitchenettes with refrigerators, satellite television, desks, direct dial phones, safes, minibars, and Internet connections (surcharge).

Expert Tip. The Botanical Garden, with some of Madeira's 150 tropical plant species lies at Monte, which can be reached by cable car. A toboggan made out of local willow can be taken back down to the bottom.

Driving Directions

Getting there. Buses leave the airport for Funchal every two hours. Aerobus Shuttle service can be taken from the airport and taxis are available 24 hours a day.

Driving directions. From the airport take the motorway in the direction of Funchal. Exit at Hospital Funchal, continue to the roundabout. Keep to the right and drive down Avenida Luis Camoes until a crossroads with traffic lights. Drive across Avenida do Infant. At the next crossroads turn left. Arrive at hotel.
