The Hotel Castello is a modern hotel set in the Cretan city of Heraklion, 800 metres from the Natural History Museum and one kilometre from the centre. The 68 air conditioned guestrooms are spread out over four floors and have light decor and modern furnishings. All are equipped with satellite television, direct dial phones, minibars, safes and hair dryers.
Multilingual staff at the 24 hour front desk can advise on touring the sights of Heraklion, most of which are within walking distance of the hotel. Guests can relax with a coffee or drink in the air conditioned hotel bar, or order a snack from room service and take in the panoramic city views from the roof garden. Free parking is available for those arriving by car. For guests wishing to dine in, the hotel's Castello Restaurant features wood panelled walls and serves traditional Greek food, while there are many dining options in Heraklion centre just one kilometre from the hotel. Guests can visit the Archaeological Museum two kilometres from the hotel, or travel further afield to see the restored ruins of the Palace of Knossos, four kilometres away. Heraklion Airport is five kilometres from the hotel, an approximate driving time of 15 minutes.

Both taxis and buses can be found right outside the airport. Typical taxi fare should be 13 EUR to the hotel; agree fare beforehand. The best way to get around Crete is by rental car or bike, although buses go to most places throughout the island. The Cretan bus company KTEL has stations in all the larger cities and stops all along the routes. Many locations are also accessible by ferry and boat taxi. Taxis in Crete are reasonable but visitors should make sure the driver uses the meter.
